Sterna's Academy

Sterna creates premium headwear & bespoke hair design for the orthodox community, and built an academy to teach her craft. As in-house art director, I developed the graphic language for her courses — a visual system that had to speak fluently to a traditional religious audience while feeling polished, professional, and aspirational.

Sterna works in a specialized world: premium headwear and bespoke hair design for the orthodox community, a craft where skill and modesty matter in equal measure. She'd built an academy to pass that craft on, teaching courses to other women in the community — and she needed a visual language to carry it.As in-house art director, I developed the graphic system for the academy and its courses. The real challenge here wasn't aesthetic, it was cultural fluency: the design had to live inside the visual codes of the orthodox world — modest, respectful, and immediately legible to its audience — while still feeling current, professional, and worth investing in. Get that balance wrong in either direction and the whole thing falls flat. The work spanned course materials and the academy's visual identity, all tuned to a single goal: make Sterna's expertise look as serious and considered as it is, to the women who'd recognize exactly what they were looking at.
